Album Description
Available in: Country Icon
Carlo Cokxxx Nutten is a collabo album by Berlin rappers Bushido and Fler, who appear on the record under the pseudonyms Sonny Black and Frank White. The album was released on October 21, 2002 on the independent label Aggro Berlin. A second edition of the album was pressed in 2005. In 2017, the album was released for the first time on vinyl in the box edition of Bushido's album Black Friday.
At the time of its creation, Bushido already had a permanent artist contract with Aggro Berlin. It was Fler's first professional release. However, the rappers did not yet achieve a chart entry with the record. Alongside Bushido's subsequent solo album Vom Bordstein bis zur Skyline, Carlo Cokxxx Nutten is considered one of the most influential albums of German-language gangsta rap. It was released in the early days of Aggro Berlin and contributed significantly to the label's subsequent commercial success. Bushido and Fler also benefited greatly from the album, with their solo albums climbing high in the charts in the following years as a result of the additional recognition they gained from the release. Today, both have founded their own labels and are regularly represented at the top of the charts.
The hip-hop magazine Juice named Carlo Cokxxx Nutten, along with Vom Bordstein bis zur Skyline, one of the five German "gangsta rap essentials" in its March/April 2013 issue. In terms of content, the majority of the songs on Carlo Cokxxx Nutten revolve around life in the ghetto. Frank White and Sonny Black rap about drug dealing, prostitutes and gun violence. The description of difficult living conditions in Berlin's peripheral districts is reinforced by the rappers' tough delivery. There are only three features on the collabo album. B-Tight, who had already recorded the sampler Aggro Ansage No. 1 with Bushido and Sido in 2001, has a guest contribution on the song Warum? The other two features come from King Orgasmus One (Drogen, Sex, Gangbang), who only appears here as Orgasmus, and D-Bo (Sag nicht...). Both rappers were among the founders of the label I Luv Money Records, together with Bushido, a year before the release of Carlo Cokxxx Nutten. The sound recordings for the Miami skit and the outro were made by Horsecock and Lil Chima respectively.
The music was produced by Bushido using an MPC. DJ Ilan mixed the finished songs and contributed the cuts for the tracks Yo, Peace Man!, Badewiese, Drogen, Sex, Gangbang and Wer will Krieg? Most of the productions are dark and typically Bushido with string samples. For example, Yo, Peace Man! contains strings from Eric Serra's She Is Dead. The song Carlo, Cokxxx, Nutten uses a sample from Herbert Grönemeyer's Viel zu viel. Boss and Schau mich an sample songs by James Horner (A Kaleidoscope of Mathematic, The Car Chase). The track Behindert contains elements of The Cross by the band Samael. The song Yo, Peace Man! was made available to the hip-hop magazine Juice. It appeared on the magazine's 24th sampler. Bushido and Fler also went on the Carlo Cokxxx hooker tour.
The cover of Carlo Cokxxx Nutten shows a photo of the inside of a warehouse, in the center a forklift lifting a row of boxes on which a woman wearing long black boots is sitting with her legs apart. Another woman is sitting at the wheel of the forklift. All of the boxes depicted are printed with the Carlo Cokxxx hooker logo developed by Aggro Berlin. The cover was essentially retained for the second edition. However, it is delivered in a cardboard slipcase. Only the logo, which consists of an unfolded butterfly knife encircled by a saw blade, and the lettering can be seen on it. The background is black with uneven red areas around the edges. The words Das Original 2nd edition have also been added.
