It's been a phenomenal year for Cowbridge's teenage four piece, The Automatic. Having wowed fans with a series of riotous gigs (including tours with Hard-Fi and The Ordinary Boys), they've emerged as one of the most exciting live acts around. Recently completing the NME tour, the general feeling is that they’ve come out on top of the 4 band bill! The band's current single "Monster" is rapidly turning into an anthem and is another example of the band's raucous disco-punk, boasting a chorus that's destines to be sung everywhere from playgrounds to football terraces.

You can hear the restless sound of youth as you listen to The Automatic's debut album, Not Accepted Anywhere. Their sharp guitar lines, analogue synths and simple shoutalong choruses combine wonderfully to produce three minute pop jewels.
Like all the best teenagers The Automatic are clearly not happy with the world they find around them. Opening song "That's What She Said" lays into drones who spend unhappy lives in the rat race, dreaming of weekends at punk gigs, while "You Shout You Shout" lambasts "so much trash on the radio," which keeps the zombies "dancing in the routine way". Killer single "Monster" takes a pot-shot at lagered-up townies in Ben Sherman shirts.
They might find it hard to believe, but it looks likely that this young Welsh band will find their album accepted everywhere.
