Mani Spinx is a solo artist and producer hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark. His style is a diverse experimental mix of genres and expressions. Mani Spinx presents a wide range of influences such as folk, hip hop, sixties-rock, cabaret and jazz. This versatile approach is based upon well crafted song writing skills that has gained him a reputation as one of the country’s finest songwriters. His lyrics, both gloomy, ironic, humorous and bizarre, often deals with existentialism, identity, love and death. Mani Spinx has been compared to many artists, such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Doors and Beck, but often the comparison doesn’t last long and is soon transcended by a new musical direction.
Mani Spinx has made a name for himself being an extremely versatile artist, garnering high critical claim for his albums and his live performances. Many Spinx has toured intensely for the last couple of years with multiple tours around Denmark. He’s played shows in Germany, Sweden and Norway, and has supported big international names like Gnarls Barkley and The Sounds.
Mani Spinx has worked with well acclaimed producers such as Rune Westberg (Alphabeat), Thomas Troelsen (Junior Senior), Pharfar (Natasja, Horace Andy) and Ezi Cut (Angelique Kidjo, 2Pac) and has been nominated for a Danish Music Award (Grammy) and a Danish radio P3 Guld Award. Mani Spinx’ hit single “Last Night In America” featured a collaboration with Sheryl Crow and Don Henley guitarist Peter Stroud.
Besides being a musician, Mani Spinx is also an illustrator/painter and video director, who has worked for international fashion labels Diesel and Psycho Cowboy with design and happenings for Save The Children charity. In 2007 he made a theatre concert based on his own music with famous Danish director Lars Kaalund, at Gasvaerket in Copenhagen. During 2009/10 he starred in a leading role in the Beatles theatre concert “Come Together” which was a huge success.
