Album Description
Available in:
A Moment Apart is the third studio album by the American electronic music duo Odesza, released on 8 September 2017 through Counter, Ninja Tune and the duo's own label, Foreign Family Collective. It is the duo's first album in three years after their second album, In Return, and the first released through Foreign Family Collective.

The album was teased in March 2016 through social media. Afterwards, the singles "Line of Sight" and "Late Night" were released in April 2017 as the lead singles. Following the album's announcement in June, "Meridian" and "Corners of the Earth" were released as the third and fourth singles. "Higher Ground", the fifth single, was released in July and "Across The Room", the sixth and final single, was released in October. The album features contributions from Leon Bridges, Kelsey Bulkin, The Chamanas, Mansionair, Sasha Alex Sloan, Regina Spektor, Naomi Wild, WYNNE and RY X.

The album received positive reviews from critics, with praise toward its production values and composition, and debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200. The album was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album, with "Line of Sight" nominated for Best Dance Recording, at the 60th Grammy Awards.

User Album Review
The album starts in enigmatic fashion with a snippet from the 2011 film, Another Earth where the character played by Brit Marling relays a tale about a Russian Cosmonaut who chose to fall in love with the incessant knocking he heard in his spacecraft. It’s a compelling opening that teases you in before quickly segueing into first song proper “A Moment Apart”. Here clean, piano chords, gently plucked banjo strings, and warped, pitched vocal samples are layered together, quickly hitting fifth gear to become a dazzling, colourful EDM club tune. The duo demonstrate their astute understanding of the dance music crowd as they drop back down to neutral and allow simple piano chords to tick over before the crackle of crisp percussion sees the track move back through the gears. It’s a warm, sunny tune perfect for simply celebrating life itself.
ODESZA have created an energetic and slick EDM album that offers something new and original in a very crowded scene. However, by cramming so many songs onto the album, the quality inevitable begins to dip and later songs stick too rigidly to a formula that served earlier songs more effectively. When the duo do hit their stride, they show a natural ability to write tight, late summer floor fillers, with a number of tunes set to pack out dance festivals for years to come.
